
☕ Homemade Chai Tea Latte
Ingredients (1 serving):
- 1 cup water
- 1 black tea bag (or 1–2 tsp loose-leaf Assam/Darjeeling)
- ½ cup milk (whole, oat, almond, or soy)
- 1–2 tsp honey, maple syrup, or sugar (to taste)
Spices:
- 2 green cardamom pods, lightly crushed
- 2 whole cloves
- 1 small cinnamon stick (or ½ tsp ground cinnamon)
- ½ inch fresh ginger, sliced (or ½ tsp ground ginger)
- 4–5 black peppercorns
- Optional: 1 star anise or pinch of nutmeg
Instructions:
- Boil the spices:
In a small saucepan, combine water and all spices. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5–10 minutes to release the flavors. - Steep the tea:
Add black tea. Steep for 3–5 minutes (shorter for milder flavor). - Add milk & sweetener:
Stir in milk and preferred sweetener. Simmer gently for 2–3 minutes—do not boil. - Strain & serve:
Strain into a mug. For a café touch, froth extra milk and spoon on top
