Ingredients

For the Beef Filling

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning (store-bought or homemade)
  • ยฝ cup water or beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For Serving

  • 8โ€“10 small tortillas (corn or flour)
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or Mexican-blend cheese
  • ยฝ cup diced tomatoes or pico de gallo
  • ยฝ cup sour cream
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Lime wedges

Instructions

  1. Cook the beef
    Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onion and cook 2โ€“3 minutes until soft. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.
  2. Brown the meat
    Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain excess fat if needed.
  3. Season
    Stir in taco seasoning and water or broth. Simmer 5โ€“7 minutes until thick and flavorful. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Warm tortillas
    Heat tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave until warm and pliable.
  5. Assemble tacos
    Spoon beef into tortillas. Top with lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, sour cream, cilantro, and a squeeze of lime.
