There’s something magical about the smell of cinnamon filling your kitchen. It’s warm, inviting, and instantly makes any day feel a little more special. Today, I’m sharing one of my absolute favorite simple treats: Sweet Cinnamon Twists.
These little pastries are soft, buttery, and perfectly spiced. They’re like a hug in dessert form — ideal for brunch, an afternoon snack, or a sweet ending to any meal. Plus, they’re surprisingly easy to make!
Why You’ll Love Them
- Quick & Easy: Ready in under 30 minutes with just a few basic ingredients.
- Crowd-Pleaser: Perfect for sharing — or keeping all to yourself!
- Versatile: Dress them up with a glaze, or enjoy them as-is with a dusting of powdered sugar.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
- 3 tablespoons melted butter
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- Optional: powdered sugar for dusting or a simple glaze (powdered sugar + milk)
Directions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Mix the sugar and cinnamon together in a small bowl.
- Roll out your puff pastry slightly and brush with melted butter.
- Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the pastry.
- Fold the pastry in half (like closing a book) and gently press down.
- Cut into strips about 1 inch wide.
- Twist each strip a few times and place on your prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes, until puffed and golden brown.
- Cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with glaze, if desired.
Tips for Perfect Twists
- If your puff pastry gets too soft while working, pop it in the fridge for a few minutes.
- Want a little extra crunch? Sprinkle a little coarse sugar on top before baking.
Make It Your Own
- Add a pinch of nutmeg or cardamom for extra warmth.
- Try spreading a thin layer of cream cheese before adding the cinnamon-sugar.
- Dip the twists in melted chocolate for an extra indulgent treat!
There’s something so simple and satisfying about these Sweet Cinnamon Twists — they’re a little bit old-fashioned, a little bit fancy, and completely delicious.
If you make them, let me know how they turn out! I’d love to hear if you added your own twist (pun intended!).
